Clover Avenue School Booster Club Pledge Drive

As parents, we all want our children to have the best school experience possible. One of the most important and tangible ways that we can make our children's education even more rewarding and well-rounded is by participating in the annual Clover Avenue School Pledge Drive- our largest fundraiser of the year. Thanks to past fundraising efforts, our school made significants upgrades to its library and computer lab facilities that continue to enrich the education experience for all Clover students. With our continued collective financial support, we can further expand the learning opportunities available to our children in art, science, music, and physical education programs and provide the additional hands-on resources they deserve.

Fundraising Activities

There are several different groups that raise funds for Clover: the Booster Club (run by parents and raises funds to supplement the school’s enrichment programs), the Student Body (organized by the school staff and raises funds to supplement the school’s regular budget), and the Fourth/Fifth Grade (organized by fourth and fifth grade students and their parents to raise funds for the Dana Point Boat Trip and Astrocamp).

The most important and easiest one is SCRIP:

WHAT IS SCRIP?  And  WHY YOU SHOULD CARE!

“Scrip” is the way retailers donate money to schools.  For every scrip (gift certificate) YOU purchase, Clover receives a percentage of sales. Sales percentages vary by retailer.      The program works in many ways, but the end result is always the same, $$$ for Clover.  When you participate in the scrip program, you earn money for Clover just by buying the things you normally buy.  Below is a summary of the various ways you can participate in the Scrip program:

Groceries.  Every Clover family should choose one or more method and participate in the grocery Scrip program.  We hope ALL families take the time to use Scrip for groceries.  Vons, Albertsons, Whole Foods and Ralph’s participate.

Von’s and Pavilions.  Register your Vons card or input the schools phone number (cut-out card below) The Von’s program rewards people who spend more:  Von’s donate 2% on purchases between $0 and $200, plus 3% on purchases between $200 and $300, plus 4% on purchases above $300.  So for example, if you spend $450 in one month, your donation would be $13 ($200 × 2% plus $100 × 3% plus $150 × 4%).   There are two ways to participate in the Von’s / Pavilions e-scrip program, but both ways result in the same $$$ to Clover.  Either way, once every 3 months Von’s mails a check to Clover for the total of all contributions.

Ralph’s.  Register your Ralph’s Club Card number with our scrip volunteer.  It is simple as that!

Albertson’s/Sav-On.  Pick up a “Community Partners” card from our SCRIP salespeople. The card has a bar code for Clover on it.  Every time you shop at Albertson’s or Sav-On, you give the card to the checker, and the checker scans the card.  Once every three months, Albertson’s mails a check to Clover representing 2% of all purchases made (you must give your Community Partners card to be scanned in order for your purchases to count for Clover).

Whole Foods.  This gift card is just like cash.  Buy Whole Foods scrip from our SCRIP salespeople. You pay no extra, but Clover gets 4% of each dollar you spend, every time you buy scrip.

Credit Card (e-scrip).  You can register your credit card with the e-scrip program when you enroll for Von’s/Pavilion’s grocery shopping, and a side benefit is that over 25 merchants (including Pep Boys and Budget Rent-A-Car) will donate a percentage of your purchase to Clover.  For a list of all participating merchants and their percentages, check out  www.escrip.com.

You can even register your Washington Mutual Visa Check Card (www.wamoolaforschools.com).

Neighborhood Stores. Including many of our neighborhood stores (Carl’s Jr., Ross, Burger King, Blockbuster, Home Depot, Smart N’ Final, COSTCO, Sees Candy etc.).  Scrip makes great Birthday, Holiday, “Thank You” or Teacher Gifts

A FULL LIST OF CLOVER’S FUNDRAISERS

PTA Membership Drive:  Join the PTA.  At least one parent per family should join the Clover PTA.  Membership in the Clover PTA makes us part of a local, state and national advocacy group for children.

Pledge Drive:  Our primary need is for parent’s financial support of this important fundraising effort.  If you have not received a Pledge letter please pick one up in the front office and make your pledge today.

Wrapping Paper Sale:
Clover’s first fundraiser of every school year, Clover has a coordinator for this event. Much help is needed in tabulating the results of this sale and organizing paperwork for participating children at the time of the sale (confirming orders and monies paid are accurate) and delivering orders once received.

Book Fairs:
Clover has 2 coordinators. Help is needed setting up or taking down book displays, with cash registers, and assisting students during sales during the Bookfair (during the school day).  Look for flyers coming home with more information.

Halloween Festival:  Clover Booster has already begun planning the biggest event of the year, but help is needed with decorations and other preparations prior to, during and after this evening festival.  This festival is held the Friday evening before Halloween, and ALL parents are encouraged to help.

Silent Auction:  Our Silent Auction is held in the Spring, and we get hundreds of items donated from businesses; but we always get the most exciting donations from our Clover families and friends. Help is also needed running the Silent Auction.

"Swing Into Spring" 2006 Silent Auction Catalog and Bidding Book

Math-A-Rama:  We have coordinators for this event, but your help tabulating the results of this fundraiser and organizing paperwork for participating children is invaluable.

Schools Rule”:  We ask that you shop at the Westside Pavilion and/or Santa Monica Place from September 15 through May 15 every year, and submit all receipts to the concierge; a percentage of your receipts will be contributed to Clover.  Last year Clover earned over $1000 dollars!  See www.westsidepavilion.com for more details.

Scrip Sales:
See above.  We request that all parents buy Scrip or participate in a grocery store program every week. For every Scrip gift certificate you purchase, Clover gets a percentage of sales at NO COST TO YOU.

E-Scrip  Many stores offer contributions to Clover based upon your purchases.  If you apply for a Target credit card, 1% of your purchases will be contributed to Clover.  If you participate in the Von’s program, a percentage of your monthly grocery purchases (up to 4%) will be contributed.  Albertson’s donates 2% of your purchase, if you ask the person to swipe your Albertson’s Community Card.  Kmart has started a new program, which we will find out about and let you know.

“Boxtops for Education”: Please work with your children to collect General Mills Boxtops and place them in the collection boxes located at school gates.  General Mills gives Clover a cash donation based on the number of Boxtops submitted.

Halloween Carnival Dinner and Bake Sales; Car Wash; Spring Dance; Ice Cream Sales and a few other events. The fifth grade students and their parents organize and run these events to raise funds for Astrocamp (a two-night science sleepover camp in which the entire fifth grade participates).

Election Day Bake Sales and other fundraisers.  The fourth grade students and their parents organize and run these events to raise funds for the Dana Point Maritime Museum Overnight Boat Trip.

Clover T-Shirt Sale; Valentine Candy sale; and Cookie Dough sale:  School staff coordinates these “Student Body Fundraiser” sales.  The funds raised are spent on supplies used by all the children and teachers inside the classroom, such as paper, pencils, dry erase supplies, etc.  Your support of these fundraisers helps all the Clover children.
